Itinerary

Day 1Good morning Vietnam

Xin chao! Welcome to Hanoi, the Capital city of Vietnam! Upon arrival, we are welcomed by our driver who will be transporting you to hotel where you meet your fellow travelers on this trip.

Day 2Exploring Ancient Vietnam

Today we will drive to Ninh Binh and our first stop is at the ancient capital of Vietnam- Hoa Lu, the seat of the throne of King Dinh and King Le, after that we will continue our journey to Tam Coc where we will get on the bikes and cycle around the beautiful countryside of Vietnam. We will then stop for a short hike over the limestone peaks for a breathtaking view. Afterwards we will continue cycling to the wharf, where we hop on traditional rowing boats and enjoy paddling along the limestone grottos. After, we will be cycling back into town and head straight to the bus for our next stop at Hanoi. Once we reach Hanoi, we will have free time to enjoy along with dinner serving before our next transfer by train to Sapa.

Day 3Trekking Sapa

We will take a bus from the railway station to Sapa where we will have our breakfast before we start our trek. We will walk from Sapa towards Muong Hoa valley, where can admire magnificent landscape and meet Black H’mong tribes. We then continue our trek through terraced rice paddies and minority villages along the Muong Hoa River, for a quick swim. Lunch will then be served at Lao Chai Village. After, we will continue walking to Ta Van Village of Zay people, where we get to watch our exquisite dinner being cooked on a wood fire while experiencing and enjoying the homestay overnight hospitality of our Zay family

Day 4Trekking Sapa

After pancakes eating session made by your host family, we will continue our journey to discover Giang Ta Chai village, along with Su Pan villages of the red Dzao minority. We will be stopping for quick picnic lunch, before we continue hiking to Ban Ho, where it is known that the village lies within a beautiful valley, home to the Tay minority people who have their traditional house built on stilts and this will be where we will spend the night, at one of the local houses.

Day 5Trekking Sapa

After breakfast, we will be taking a short walk to a breathtaking waterfall discovered called “the Lavie” which was named after the French during the colonial time in Vietnam. Here we get a quick break to enjoy swimming before we go up the mountains and visit a small hamlet by the Red Dzao people called Nam Toong. Lastly, we head back to Ban Ho to hop in the car and drive back to Sapa, where we will enjoy some free time before transferring back to Lao Cai Railway station for the sleeping train back to Hanoi.

Day 6Hanoi City

Upon arrival at Hanoi railway station, we will immediately transfer to our next hotel for check in and grab breakfast. Rest of day will be a free to explore the city on your own. A lot of optional excursion is available to choose from; you may go on a foodie tour for a taste of the country’s delicious local meals, or you can have the choice of taking a cooking class, or go for a sightseeing tour and visit Hanoi famous sites.

Day 7Ha Long Bay

Today we head to Halong Bay – One of Heritage Site in Vietnam to cruise amongst the bay’s spectacular scenery. After check-in we will set sail, and enjoy on-board lunch serving while cruising through fishing village and beautiful islands and gaze with the beautiful and unique rock formations. Later before sunset we will stop at one of those islands for a swimming and kayaking break. Afterwards we will return to the boat for where we will be having a local Vietnamese dinner.

Day 8Ha Long Bay

After breakfast we sail to the pearl farm to learn about the pearl making process, then we continue sailing for cruising further to the bay and you have the chance to discover deeper in the bay. Disembark your boat to do some kayaking or swimming amongst the small islands that the bigger boats can’t reach. You may stay onboard to sunbathe on the sundeck and enjoy sunset party on boat with drinks and karaoke night.

Day 9Back to Hanoi

Enjoy a spectacular view of Ha long bay landscape and thai chai exercise, catch morning view of seascapes while having your breakfast and cruising toward Thien Canh Son Cave. Then we reach the harbor and take while having your breakfast. If time permits we visit the fishing village and learn about the locals daily life, then we reach the harbor and take our bus back to Hanoiour bus and drive back to Hanoi.

Day 10:Goodbye Vietnam

Today is our last day in Vietnam, after checkout we take a ride to the airport for our departure

Is this trip right for you

  • We cover a lot of distance on this trip, including on overnight trains. Accommodation and amenities are shared and basic, but the experience of rubbing shoulders with the locals makes it all worthwhile. 
  • Vietnamese roads can be hectic and intimidating to cross. Never fear – your leader will show you how to do it like a local in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
  • This trip is for travellers who appreciate a bit of independence. You’ll get plenty of free time in each location to make your own choices and do your own activities and eat where you like. Your leader is always there to give you tips and suggestions.
